Plan Veo 2025: a complete guide for families

The Plan Veo 2025 is now up and running. It is a nationwide program promoted by the Spanish Ministry of Health that provides a direct allowance of up to €100 per child per year for the purchase of visual aid systems, with the aim of guaranteeing universal access to proper children’s eye care. Ministerio de Sanidad que ofrece una ayuda directa de hasta 100 € por menor y año para la adquisición de sistemas de ayuda visual, con el objetivo de garantizar el acceso universal a una correcta salud visual infantil.

The allowance is aimed at children and adolescents up to 16 years oldand is applied directly at opticians participating in the Plan Veo programwith no administrative procedures required from families.

 

What is Plan Veo?

The Plan Veo is a public aid program approved by the Ministry of Health that funds, up to a maximum of €100 per beneficiary per year, the purchase of visual aid systems included in the program.

The Plan is implemented in collaboration with the General Council of Colleges of Opticians-Optometrists (CGCOO), which acts as the collaborating entity and coordinates the participation of opticians and healthcare professionals.

 

Who can benefit from Plan Veo?

All minors up to and including 16 years of age may benefit from Plan Veo provided they meet the following requirements:

  • They are entitled to public healthcare coverage under the Spanish National
  • This entitlement is accredited through the CIPA code, shown on the health card or on the official document issued by the relevant regional authority.
  • They have a diagnosed refractive error that can be corrected using a visual aid system included in Plan Veo.

 

Which products are covered by Plan Veo?

Plan Veo provides funding of up to 100 € for the purchase of the following products:

  • Frames with organic prescription lenses and anti-reflective coating..
  • Organic prescription lenses with anti-reflective coating, if only the lenses need to be replaced.
  • Contact lenses (hydrophilic or gas permeable), together with the liquid solution required for their maintenance for one year..

If the final price is less than €100, the allowance covers the full amount.
If it exceeds €100, the family only pays the difference.

 

Where can the allowance be used?

The Plan Veo allowance can be used at any participating optical healthcare establishment..

How can families access Plan Veo?

First-time access

  • Up to 5 years of age:a prescription issued by an ophthalmologist or an optician-optometrist (public or private) is required.
  • From 6 years of age onwards:the prescription may also be issued by an optician-optometrist at a participating Plan Veooptician, provided there is no suspicion of ocular pathology.

Subsequent access

  • Plan Veo can be used again once 365 days have passed since the previous purchase.
  • A new eye examination and valid prescription are required.

 

What documentation do families need to provide?

Families do not need to complete any administrative procedures.The optician handles everything.

The optical professional will request:

  • A valid prescription for the visual aid system.
  • Details of the minor and the parent or legal guardian.
  • Identity document (if applicable).
  • CIPA code from the health card.

  • Annex I of Plan Veo,signed by the legal guardian

  • ✅ Plan Veo is compatible with other previously received aid,as long as the €100 limit is not exceeded.
